Among the many big dates on the NBA calendar every year, there’s one in particular that causes an entirely different kind of basketball stir from that of, say, the All-Star Game or even the last fixture of the NBA Finals series. Of course, the date we’re referring to can be none other than the annual trade deadline which, for the past couple of years, has fallen on the Thursday one week prior to All-Star Weekend. And it isn’t just the deadline itself that’s a big deal either, as weeks and even months before it, sports news can already be awash with rumors and hearsay that can have a significant impact on how we all view the standings and our favorite teams’ match schedules from then on.
Even amidst all the height of the anticipation and hype leading up to the 2019 NBA All-Star Game, this year’s long list of potential deals definitely still generated more than its fair share of the usual excitement mixed with trepidation. The big names that were being tossed back and forth in the sports news rumor mills certainly didn’t hurt either.
