Uruguay Set to be France’s Toughest Opponents Yet
After their match against Argentina, France have once again become favorites to reach the final. Can they stay in form and advance over Uruguay?
After a pretty intense 2018 World Cup schedule over the past three weeks, we’re now just left with the eight football teams who have qualified for the quarter-final round. And this Friday, we’ll get to see Uruguay take on France in the first of four matches whose results will determine which teams will be qualifying for the semis. Based on the many results predictions leading up to this FIFA World Cup, it’s no surprise that these two have made it this far in, and either side could very well go all the way. Which shade of blue will we get to see on the pitch in the next round?
Far more than simply an offensive threat
While Uruguay are obviously one of the more offensively dangerous squads still in the 2018 World Cup, thanks to their scoring tandem of Suárez and Cavani, France might to be even more wary of what the South American side are capable of on defense. It might not have been apparent back during the CONMEBOL qualifiers schedule, but the fact that the Uruguay football team have only conceded a single goal since the current FIFA World Cup says a lot about their ability to keep their opponents at bay.
